Its a grass roots movement at this point, but apparently many in Minnesota as pushing for a new region called "The North" with the twin cities as it's financial center (like Chicago currently is for the midwest). The proposed region would include Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas and part of Wisconsin-- essentially the prairie states. The significantly different land and climate are the main reasons given for this change.
Good luck. Rural New York has been trying to stop the arterial bleeding of the state by separating from Turd Island and Madcrappen for a couple decades. Hopefully someday I'll be a resident of New Amsterdam .
Its not like they are trying to start a new state or anything, they just dont think they are the same as the rest of the midwest and thus dont want to be considered midwest, but their own region instead.
That is sort of like Michigan's Upper Peninsula wanting to separate itself (pun intended) from the lower peninsula. But they want to become a state. That is never going to happen simply because of the low population and not much for corporate business; thus, there would not be enough tax dollars come in to make a go of it.
Even though I'm not quite as far north as you, I see Iowa as having more in common with a midwest area than a north area. Whats your take on it?
P I've lived down around Waterloo, in Forest City, and in Watertown, SD. I spend a lot of time in Minnesota. They all seem the same. Went to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and it was so different over there. I really think Iowa belongs in whatever group Minnesota is in.
I just want to declare my property a sovereign entity and be left alone. Why is it the kids keep telling us we are antisocial.
Uncle will then likely give you all kinds of help, let's see you can illegally enter the US get free this and that, go back home and laugh.
