Woke up to 4 this a. m., but not looking forward to those below zero temps.
    Stay warm out there.

Yup got a bit chilly here! Had loads of big coals from the primo locust fire started 11 hrs. earlier.. Reloaded and off to the races in 5 minutes.. Still amazed at the long burn times the T5 provides!

Do they have plows down there? Or will most stay home and wait for it to melt in a day or so?

Not sure abut the plows but quite certain there is no shortage of sand to put on the roads :) He'll be okay as he's has a Audi AWD and a Dodge 2500 4x4....and he's used to it because he is from Canada;)

bogydave.................were you living in Alaska in the winter of '88-'89??? There was a guy from up there in the trade school (central Illinois) I was attending at the time. Anyhow; one day at school he got a phone call from his wife who was still in Alaska....................she was driving to work in the AM and her cars temperature gauge wouldn't get off cold. Or if it did, once she stated driving, it would drop. IIRC, there were actual air temps up there that year of -80*F. Ever experience that???

Oh, and it was -1*F here at my humble little dump this morning when I got up, but the wind was, and still is, just howling outside. It's 12*F now. With the open water that we still have up here; it makes for a bone chiller outside today........................not to mention how fast the house loses heat with this wind!!!

It was 14° here this morning, only got up to around 21° for the high. I climbed a quadruple trunk red maple and brought all four of them down today, was nice to be working in the cold!! Sure beats the damm rain!! Trees were around 60' high, on a steep bank in the hollow beside my in-laws place. Two heavy leaders towards the house, rigged them at 45' and pulled them over backwards with a snatch block and the 3 wheeler winch....

With the slope, I am surprised the rounds stayed put.

    Nice job Scotty.
Are you taking the wood, or leaving it for them.
If neither, I'll come get it.
Got a lot of multi-trunk Red around here. Wild lookin' stump.

Papa D, my FIL has a Napoleon 1900p, just like mine. He used to log/sell firewood back in the late 70s, they burned for 20 years and quit. Once he seen how efficient and nice these new stoves are to run, he bought a new one
He had a stainless liner put in and he's loving the heat! He has a wood cellar in the house too, put it in when they built the house in the late 70s.

We ended up with around 1.5 cord, maybe close to 2, from that tree and some misc smaller ones we cut down. He wanted me to take half the wood, then I reminded him I am 5 years ahead and he laughed and said are you sure?? :rofl:

I WAS tempted to take some.....it's the Hoarder instinct in me......:emb:

Oh and by the way, I got him hooked on the three year plan too! He's not computer savvy, nor does he have ANY interest in computers, I tried to get him to join up with us!!

lol Deacon, yes some of those rounds took off clear to the bottom of the hollow!! Luckily, he had a 4 wheeler trail put in several years back with a small dozer (can barely make it out, it's right below the stump), most of the wood landed on that path...

largest of the 4 trees on thst stump was around 24" across, the whole "nightmare" is over 4.5' long!

With 43+cord CSS'd...................you gotta be at least 10 years ahead....................and especially after reading and viewing your posts recently about your wood scores!!!!!
