With 2014 winding down thought I would post up some pictures. My new neighbor down the road is clearing his lot for his house he is building. Stopped to talk to him this spring, and asked what he was going to do with all those logs. He said their yours if you want them, I will haul them to the road for you with my excavator. He didn't want me cutting on his property, insurance reasons. I cant remember how many times I would finish a pile and two days later a new pile would show up. My Poulan's had a fuel chugging, wood eating feast. And worked the hell out of the quad. Finished cutting and moving the wood up to my processing area in late spring. Let it sit stacked till fall and then started splitting and stacking. Finished up with about 12 cords. The wood under the tarps is what it stacked out to, the wood in the shed has been CSS for a few years. A lot of bull work and a few gallons of fuel and presto four years worth of free heat. Its not my best score for a year but definitely the best logs in a score.
Nice pictures and score Chestnut . I had a similar story with a construction buddy who had a lot cleared for a house last Feb. Only catch with my story is that I had 8 days to clear out the tree length logs or the excavator would bury the wood in the rear of the lot, which was not accessible. Needless to say I got it all out and paid for it, 12 hr days and 2 snowstorms got me a sore back for a few weeks. Like you said, I'm 3 years ahead now and feel a little more peace of mind for it. Great story!
Great pics, that's a huge score. Gotta love that easy access, still alot of work CSS'n but at least you didn't have the battle of getting them out of the woods.
AWESOME ! One of the top scores of the year ! 12+ cord & TONS of fun Free logs dropped off in a processing area. "No such thing as "easy firewood" but some is easier than other " you may be a tad "spoiled " LOL
Chestnut, that is fantastic! You don't even have to stack the brush and they guy brought them to the road. That is worth a great big smile for sure. I hope you did something special for that fellow.
