Nick & his crew hadn't dropped off anything here since the Black Cherry/Black Walnut in early May.I seen his ad on CL this morning - 2 trees brought down a couple miles from me.Called him about 930,told me he already had first load on dump trailer & would be over in about 30 minutes. :coffee:

After this was dumped had a nice chat with him & 2 of his guys, said "Hey Jon,I got about a half load left on the site, you want it too?" "Of course I do! :axe:"

Went to shake his hand & wish him Merry Christmas, slipped him a $20 bill at the same time. :DHe wouldn't accept at first but I insisted.Great guy & hard working very experienced younger crew, real go-getters.Been dealing with them 2 1/2 years now.

Exactly 1 year ago today they brought me a huge load of very large 75%White Oak/25% Red Oak - a few 8-12" diameter rounds, but the majority was 24 to 36 inches!!! They know by now I'm happy with whatever they bring, but am especially pleased with the biggest & gnarliest stuff that no one else wants . :dex:

Pics show the entire lot, will get to breaking it down in an hour or so.With any luck should have it all processed & stacked by next weekend working a little each day.

Space next to storage shed is where it will set - moved the other stack of 1.5 to 3 yr wood away from here - a mix of Green Ash,Mulberry,White Pine,Red/White Oak plus a handful of Shagbark,Honey Locust & Apple.

I can easily see why you tipped him and that was good on you to do that. Sounds like he was deserving of it too.

Great call on the tipping. I won't give to large charities for a variety of reasons, so my wife and I make it a point to tip hard workers very well even if their job by nature doesn't require tipping.

And that's one heck of a load of wood. Looks great!

Roughly half the wood I've been burning 4-5 days a week for the past month & a half is Silver Maple that he dropped off in Feb 2014.Almost twice the amount on his trailer that time if I remember....

Lots of wind the past several months & a very hot & dry June/July really sped up the drying process.

Lights off instantly, burns hot & clean with no hissing or water boiling out the ends.....

Nice pile there. As always Tree Service wood is good wood. It has kept me warm for a long time. I'll be a bit contrary and say that tipping isn't quite necessary as you are saving him time by making his trip to a dump site shorter and possibly tipping fees. But what I will say is come the day you need tree work done you just call whomever gives you wood and tell them to come over and do it. The only difficulty with that is if you have more than one guy giving you wood. They have a way of noticing that work has been done.

The silver I got earlier this year dried super quick like that too. It's all ready to go now. If you're in a pinch and need to stock up with fast drying wood, silver maple is the way to go if you ask me
