Sugar or Soft Maple?

    How flaky do you need? :whistle: Kinda hard to "definitely" make any call based on fuzzy pix like that. Maybe OP has sample leaves?

    I guess, but even from the pic I can tell it isn't flaky like silver bark is

    This tree is on a secondary trail on hill that runs the length of the Brook, I've only been on it around five times so I'm not sure what we have in that area other then the Hemlocks and some Beech, my guess if it's a Maple would be a Red Maple.

    I'm currently burning a little over a cord silver maple right now and it doesn't look like that. All the silver we have around here is much more flakey like BigBarf said. I'd say that's red, possibly sugar.
