Everyone that comes in sees the woodstove and doesn't believe I'm using it. It's the only heat I use I tell them. Most reply man it doesn't smell like a woodstove in here at all. I must be doing something wrong then. Maybe I need a woodstove scented candle or something.
My wife would love that here. I get a little smoke once in a while when adding wood. I love it... her, not so much. Sounds like you're burning gooder dry wood and your chimley's clean...
People know when I'm using mine. The stove room is quite warm and that's where the front door is. No smoke smell though, unless I've opened the door at the wrong time. Did you do any edumacatin'?
As the guys said, there's hardly any smoke odor in the house but some people that visit do catch a hint of the smoke from the stack. In the really cold weather your nose just seems so much more sensitive, I like it...gooder smells
Oh the joys of nice dry wood! Love walking out as I leave the house, looking up at the chimney and asking myself if the fire I just saw in the stove was imaginary, because I don't see smoke rolling out of the chimney.
Good wood , good stove, good chimney. Good set up Almost all good stuff, missing one thing. " Pictures " LOL
When I told my wife we were converting to wood heat she was NOT happy......because she grew up in a home that heated with wood and EVERYTHING from her house smelled like it came from the smokehouse... needless to say after she saw how amazingly efficient the modern stove was, and burning good, LONG seasoned wood was, we'll let's just say if I was to remove our wood stoves she'd probably leave me......the stoves are an important part of our family (I've stopped short of actually naming them, though). Lol....
I have a coworker who can't believe that anyone still heats with wood. She thought I was lying when I said I have a woodpile, a wood stove, a handful of chainsaws and pellet stoves. I think her exact words were 'why would you want to heat with wood'? I asked why she wants to pay for a gym membership and write checks to the gas company. I tried to convince her that not everyone who has a chainsaw and burns wood for heat is a mountain man out in the boonies. My wife wasn't too happy with the idea when I brought home the wood insert 9 years ago. Her dad had a wood stove in their house when she was growing up and apparently subscribed to the 'cut today/burn today' school of thought. Once I showed her the amount of money we weren't spending on oil she changed her tune. And the house is about 10 degrees warmer than when we heated only with oil.
Pretty much DITTO to these statements above except.......well....some of us ARE mountain men still!! Lmao.....
