Had a little bit of a discussion this morning with my wife about trying to take advantage of the $300 tax credit this year. If we don't, I guess it's not a huge deal, but I hate leaving money on the table. The only thing she wants is a big window to see the fire (which she doesn't look at much), and she wondered if anyone does a 6 months-same as cash deal. I told her I didn't think so, but told her Woodstock's deals and that they also do refurbs. I've done a rough tax return calc and it looks like we'll get more than enough to get whatever stove I want (and she doesn't care, except for the window thing). I still would rather get the BK (and now I'm looking harder at the Ashford), I think. Nothing definite just yet, but I value opinions here.....so, opinions? Comments. Flaming? Open for discussion.......go.
If you would like to see a Fireview in operation Dave, come on down. If you see the Fireview then it will be a bit easier to picture what the Progress would do for you.
Dennis, I know, you've said similar before and it's mucho appreciated. I'll keep it on the back burner in case needed. The PH is now possibly in the running, as is the BK Ashford, if the Ashford is deep enough. Not sure I'd like a sideloader though. However, I can pretty much get used to anything.
Good luck Dave in your quest. When we bought the jotul, chimney, install, etc, we opened a visa home projects card. No interest for a year, so we managed to pay it off just in time . Didn't want to tap into savings, so it worked well.
Go with a hybrid and you got the best of both worlds. I've been told that the Woodstock refurbs don't qualify for the $300 tax rebate. But I might test that.
Just understand, you will not get the super long burn times on the BK with your insulation. Just be aware of that going into it.
Has to be a new stove. It would not qualify? But its worth a try. I doubt the look hard at stuff ESP if u really have documents. Which are not submitted anyway. I got my stove used/ refurbes a few years back at the local stove store. My receipt read "used stove" so I did not even try as the credit specifically says off any "new stove and install"
Seems like a technicality.. it would be new to me, and it would eliminate a smoke dragon for the environment.. both toward the intent. But, I guess I'll just have to take my government's fine example and be honest.
