    Some say I go overboard at times with things that interest me.

    Actually I have been thinking about that, thanks for noticing.

    A conventional vacuum cleaner would probably put more fine particulates in the room than doing nothing. I put a magnet on each grinder to catch the metal. To do it right, the exhaust needs to be going outside. I generally only do 2-3 chains at a time so they don't make to big a mess. I sweep up the dust with a small brush and dustpan. That is why the backsplash is behind the grinders to contain the dust from going everywhere.

    Well I have to laugh at myself today.

    The Silvey owners manual really doesn't tell you squat and like with all things there is a learning curve. Well I am on the uphill part with this grinder but feel I know what I am doing with the Tecomec and Oregon.

    I was having problems with the right hand and left hand pawls not grabbing the back of the cutter and forcing it down into the rail correctly. It was sloppy and not centered perfectly. I checked the rail gap and a nickel fit in the slot. (.075"). I put a chain in and adjusted the rails till the chain moved snugly but not tightly and presto, the pawls engaged perfectly. (This is the feature that makes this a superior chain vice). Afterwards I found a dime just fit in rail and low and behold the dime is .055". I was using 50 gauge chain.

    Call me Mr. Dumass:whistle::doh:
