Well it was in the Elm City

Split the rest of the oak and stacked. Just under a half cord stacked. (Honey locust in back) plus the heartwood splits which get stacked separately. Hope to hear from them in 2--3 weeks when the last few trees come down.

Got a PM from the lady. They took another tree taken down. Had at it today. Easy cut and load. Norway maple. 400 & 241 tag teamed. The two huge elms (see OP pics) by the street had been taken down. (not part of the score) Split the whole load right off the truck after. About a half cord. More trees to come down in the back. Probably before years end.

 

The maple splits topped off a half cord stack of sugar maple from my score last week.

 

Next time, take the oak *first!

Yup. On Labor day I set a goal to scrounge 12 cords by years end. Im around seven as of today. Have a couple good ones that I need to move on otherwise I lose out.

 

Being New Haven did you find any bullets in the wood?

 

LOL! No, but I did cut through some rope in a cherry log when I was cutting there in 2022.
