I was averaging $400 a month 3 years ago which I why I had solar panels installed. Rates and fees have gone up significantly since then but now I don't care at all how high they go. The bill for my panels doesn't go up and more than covers what I used to pay.

Best Ive done on a utility bill was like $36 for gas during the summer months. Electric is usually around $100 (higher in the summer). How did you get your bill so low?

Did they make you guys switch to smart meters on that side of the state yet? We had to switch both our gas and electric meters out earlier this year.

Yup, that and the "deregulation" (1999 SB3) backfired...

The smart meter switch occurred when the panels were installed. The gas meter switch is happening now. Not really concerned though as we average about $12-15 a month for gas.

We do not have a gas bill as that is not available here. We just try to be very frugal.

I probably saw some that low when I lived in KS (moved to NH 1987). Cost per KWH was low. In NH, it is really hard to be under $25 since there is a nearly $14.00 charge just to have a meter (you don't have to use electricity, just have to have a meter to get a bill). and that doesn't acount for the various fees that are tacked on over and above the energy charge. I've payed anywhere from $0.10 to $0.30+ per kwh so I don't even have to use much electricity to have a bill higher than yours.

The lowest full month bill that I have record of, was in 2017 where I paid $53.29 for 218 kwh.

The last bill I paid to the electric company was February 2022 where the electricity portion was less than my meter rental fee:

Since then, I haven't had to pay them anything :D.
