This is what makes identifying wood so challenging sometimes after it's been seasoned. This is two pieces of white mulberry. One is seasoned some and the other was just split. I know you can use the bark to help, but the difference in color is amazing.
I agree. The color change is pretty neat. It's a scarce tree around here, even scarcer as a scrounge for me. One of my mulberry stacks. Wood was cut Summer 2023. Pic from a few weeks ago. Half cord stack from a few years ago. I had topped it off with some fresh cut. The other splits were a 5-6 months old.
