We decided to go camping this year for our anniversary trip. We are at Ft McAllister St Park, south of Savannah GA. We got here Friday afternoon. 2nd time we have taken the camper out. Ready to roll... Got set up about 3PM Campground is on Savage Island ... Plenty of room between camp sites Wildlife everywhere...Deer In our campsite... Even saw a cat on a leash... Coon came by this morning ... I'll add more pictures as we do more exploring...

I've been there. 2003. compliments of Uncle Sam. We trained at Ft Stewart prior to going to Kosovo. beautiful country to see out there. Lots of history. Congratulations on 36 years.
Adventures from today... Explored the state park, on the drive out to the fort, more wildlife, armadillo... We walked out to the fishing pier... Historical sign... Pier Fishing and crabbing Caught a couple Of course, I had to dream about farwood...live oaks At the museum... Artifacts from the Civil War Flag display Debris found from a sunken ship Sherman's last stop... Henry Ford bought the land and started restoration on the fort...later a paper company bought it and gave it to the state...
We walked up an appetite, so we visited a good seafood place at Ft McAllister Marina on the way to the park... Our view from the table... Had some nice boats there... Birds on the way back...

After breakfast this morning, we walked the 1.5 mile nature trail and around the campground. Armadillo greeted us... Nice mix of flora here, palms and palmetto, oaks, pine, hickory, magnolia... Yes , I was over these hickory trees...hoarder's dream... Live oak... Knot growth on small oak Found a small swamp Trail lead out to the salt marsh...
