Below did not turn out as well as I'd liked. I should have zoomed in on the reds.

Ever wonder how you could find poison ivy? On the left, see it clinging to the trees?!

Below are some cottonwoods you see all yellow. A few popple in there too.

And finally, Judy was picking more raspberries so I got her picture. With the background it did not show the height of the berries as I would have liked but you can see the top of a t-post (white) and that is an 8' post with about a foot into the ground. The berries are higher than the post. She has done a lot of picking. Perhaps we should have been selling the berries but we've given away many, many quarts and still are.

    Nice.
Our berries are long gone before the turn of the leaves.
Enjoy the fall. Spring and fall are my favorite times. Very short in maine.

Shots I took this morning of Maple to show how some change more quickly.
This one is a very vibrant red (no, duh).

Dave, we went to Lansing today and noticed for sure south of St Johns there did not seem to be as much color. But then, not so many maples there and no sumac or sasafrass. Most of the sassy is looking pretty good around here.

I'm heading towards your area this weekend. A couple weeks ago they were just starting to change. I'm hoping to see a bit more color on this trip.

Not that I am ready to admit that summer is over, but I gotta make the best of it.

    Really enjoyed the pictures.
We live in an area where there is no poison ivy. You'll have to take some close ups for us but not too close!

You know I never paid that much attention to the poison ivy turning.
I'll have to keep an eye out and take some pictures of my poison ivy village I have out here

We really should have been selling some this year as we could have made a bundle of money. But, we've just given some away after we got all we wanted in the freezer. Plus I eat a couple quarts a day. They are not cheap around here either.

I'll try to remember to take some close-ups. Difficult thing is remembering to take the camera.

If you have wild ones you could start moving them now, till some rows add compost. Cut the shoots back to about 2', dig with a pitchfork - helps keep some of the roots.
They are easy to propagate from new shoots, you can pull them to the ground put a couple shovel's of fresh dirt over it and place a rock on the dirt to hold it down. The shoot will re-root itself just cut it from the main stem and transplant.

There's another way to propagate them using a plastic bottle. Cut the bottom out, drill a hole near the bottom, slide the stem through the bottom and out the bottle top, tie a string through the drilled hole to a stake. Fill the bottle with potting mix and keep watered. When you see roots in the bottle cut the stem free and slide the bottle off and plant your new plant.

Took these last week on the way to a funeral.. Went to pay our last respects to a brother and fellow Marine. Made it there just in time for the fly-by.;) I guess I need to apologize to our Wisconsin hoarders for not stopping in for a beer!!:drunk:

    HRUSCHANKO, JOHN
    Citation:
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to John Hruschanko (1071270), Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with a Marine Weapons Company of the FIRST Marine Division (Rein), FMF, in Korea, on 7 December 1950. Private First Class Hruschanko, serving as an ammunition carrier in the assault platoon of Weapons Company and while under concentrated enemy mortar and small arms fire, although wounded, left his covered position to carry a wounded Marine to his foxhole where he administered first aid. With complete disregard for his own personal safety he refused medical attention for himself, and upon learning that a machine gunner had become a casualty, he courageously manned the machine gun and delivered such accurate fire that the enemy was forced to seek cover, thereby enabling his company to successfully withdraw to a more favorable position. His actions throughout were an inspiration to all who observed him, and materially aided his company in repulsing the enemy attack. His heroic actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
Personal Awards: Silver Star (Korea), Purple Heart
