I only hand split and have done cords of BL. Standing dead and fresh cut. Standing dead is the much more fun then fresh cut. Fresh cut isn't too bad. Just do it!
There's still a lot there, and I told the guy to let anyone interested at it. It's about a 40 yard wheelbarrow out, and I probably scared all the carpenter ants out for you. Loaded a trailer this afternoon. It split reasonably well, and I'd only label the smell mildly barnyardy. Looking forward to seeing how it seasons and eventually burns. Thanks for the nudge!
Thats a nice load. Been there done that with the wheelbarrow. PITA but usually worth it for good firewood. The stink wont occur until it starts to decay and comes loose and is only detectable if you get close. You going back for another load? Can't be letting us down now!
