I see a lot of noodling in your future. Same question on the Homelite, I had a mere 150 that hurt me back in the day. First time I ran a Stihl with rubber antivibe I never looked back. They sure are cool old saws though!
Hats off to you for cutting those up. They can be a PITA to buck. That sound you hear is a sigh of relief from jrider relieved he didn't have to process it!
Those crotches make my hands hurt just thinking about it. Glad he's got the equipment to process it appropriately! I'd love to have something like that because I generally have to let something of that size and complexity go. I know there's good wood in it, but getting it out is another thing entirely.
I've done a few. They can be a time suck along with a challenge, especially if you don't have some heavy duty equip to attack them with.
Answer to everybodys questions that old 1050 just keeps on cutting !! never seems to make my hands numb I think the weight takes the sting out of it those rounds are no match for the splitter on the skid loader it just splits or shears the knots with no problem and those big ones are actually easier I think to cut than a lot of little wood you just let the big saws do the work I will try to get ricky blazin to get a picture of the splitter at work next time out I only have 5 rounds left all the rest is split and stacked already JB
5 big rounds left…to the left pre splits (skid loader) the newest rows on the right are some of that oak john said it was ugliest wood he ever split
Fun fact the splits on the right are @ 12.91 cords I am shooting for 20 stacked in this spot should have it soon thanks to ricky blazins help JB OOps almost forgot more oak coming this week I really like when it is delivered JB
