It looks like the hillbillies of NH may need to deal with multiple area codes. https://www.boston.com/news/local-n...finally-running-out-of-603-area-code-numbers/
Eh, that is old news, they've been talking about that for decades IIRC. And they mentioned on the local news last week that they've configured it so that we have a few more years of 1 zip code. I lived thru the transition to a second zip code way back when I lived in KS, I'll live thru another transition when the time comes. Yes, The 603 is a state identity, but it won't be the end of all things as we know it when the time comes.
I remember most, if not all, of eastern Massachusetts had a 617 area code. Now 617 is just a small area around Boston. My area code was changed to 508 and then they did an overlay and for a while I had a 508 phone and a 774 phone. Course with the ability to hold onto old numbers I have friends and relatives living in Arizona and Seattle area with 508 numbers.
We were just talking of phone numbers the other day. When I was young, I remember our phone number consisting of 3 digits!
My old house was in the family for 5 generations and built in 1880, it had carbon fuses in the phone box outside. I had my own dedicated phone line going two towns over to some telephone switching building. I certainly hope we stay in the 603 for a long time to come. It does define us. The Super Secret Project does a really good video cover of Jay-Z on you tube with lyrics. It's called "Granite State of Mind".
