And piece 2. 52.5+79 for 131.5. After my turn w the corporate helicopter in May, I’ll leave a 6 pack of coldies in it for you Jim.
I played the guess the weight game with an ex GF...why she's an ex GF! 125# EDIT: I guessed prior to scrolling through the entire thread.
I do love splitting it and one of my favorite wood aromas. If I had to choose one oak to scrounge chestnut would be it.
Glad I got the Isocore on your recommendation Brad. Took about 3-5 swings to pop them apart. I’ll start taking it along when I buck these size logs. I don’t always feel like swinging the weight but it sure does produce a lot less waste. And the smell is great. I catch wiffs for many days after bringing wood home and staging it. Then after splitting, I get it for many weeks. Then it’ll get rained on and I’ll get it again for several days.
I don't mind noodling but it is time consuming vs the maul. Most of the time I like to get it loaded and out of there when roadside. I'm still a bigger fan of Goldilocks wood though and so is my back! LOL!!! How's your back feeling?
I was assembling bundles last week and somehow a chestnut oak split got mixed in the one year wood. I split it open and kept sniffing it! It was far from dry enough though. Still sitting by the table outside.
My body aches this morning. Have no apts at the shop so I may fire up the splitter and finish off the pile.
It took me a while to recover - was feeling twinges of pain for several months afterwards. I won't pick up anything that big anymore, it either gets noodled, split on the ground, or picked up with the tractor. I have also used a motorcycle ramp but that's tedious. I like noodling because I can use the noodles for mulch in the garden.
One of these on the front of the bed attached to the frame of the trailer would load both the tailgate and trailer. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-to...-with-hand-winch-61522.html?_br_psugg_q=crane
