@WeldrDave thanks man. The boys enjoy stuff like that and it makes me happy when they are happy. Showed them you can build something from essentially junk and try to get them to help as much as possible.

That picture brings back some memories. My boys are 17 and 19 now, but my oldest had a little electric jeep like that, he drove that thing all over the place. I ended up making some rubber sleeves out of inner tube to slide over the plastic wheels to protect them, and stuck a car battery under the hood so he could go for longer between recharges.
I wish it had had an odometer on it so I could have known exactly how many miles he put on it.

I thought about using a marine battery since they are sealed and meant to be recharged. Did you just cut the plug off the PW battery or hard wire it?

Yes I took the plug off one of the stock batteries, he went through a few of them before I decided to try using a car battery. Obviously the car battery added a little extra weight to the jeep, but it wasn't a problem as he frequently carried passengers anyway, and he had a little trailer too. Those sealed gel cells they sold for those things would go dead after a couple hours of use, but the car battery would last pretty much the whole day, or at least as much as he would use it in a day. I had a trickle charger we would plug it into at night.
This is back a few years now, but I remember replacing at least one of the wheel drive motors, but I think I may have replaced the other one too. I do distinctly remember being intrigued with electronic drive controller units in them. They are more then just simple speed controllers, they have some sort of feedback sensor in them that allows it to function as a sort of electronic differential operating in much the same way a mechanical differential works, allowing the outside wheel in a turn to drive faster than the inside wheel.
Thinking about all this now reminds me I even installed a old CB unit I had kicking around in his jeep, and I had a hand held walky-talky that we could keep in contact with him as he drove around. Good Times

The existing gallery will be shutting down and will be replaced with the same software we are using for our user albums. My favourite part is that you will be able to upload the pics yourself! Please remember that we want your very best pics, so please don't fill an album with a ton of your photos-- you have your own user albums for that. We want the galleries to be our absolute best photos to represent us to the rest of the world!

    Upload your photos here!

So, you no longer want pics submitted in this thread ?

Correct. I am turning it over to you guys to upload your best pics into the albums I linked above. Once the albums are respectable, they will replace the existing ones. So please add any photos you submitted previously. Can you guys see the empty albums?

Ok, I will change permissions to let you guys see empty albums until they all have something in them.

I won't. I'm giving it a few days before I further pursue. It's tougher to edit someone else's code than your own.
