That piece of the bottom floor is going to be a childcare center. The playground is going to be where the trees were.
Somehow missed this thread. Good stuff there. Those trunks can get very gnarly but some good btus. I end up noodling the gnarly rounds to get prettier "splits". Not all that common down there IIRC?
It’s gotten too warm for them, so medium age and older landscape trees usually have die back. Occasionally I see big healthy ones in a big lawn. I’ve gotten some big ones and swore off taking any more because the trunks were a pia to split. These 3 had a bunch of straight mostly knot free limbs that I couldn’t pass up. It will make a good mix for my oak hoard. There’s a historic road in my city lined with Sugar Maple’s and it’s probably been 30 years since they had great fall color. Back in the day it was a vivid orange and yellow tunnel in the fall.
