Looks like the red shouldered hawks we have around here. We had a nest of them about 100 feet from the house this year.
They are LOUD. Their squawk is something fierce.

This Hawk ( I think ) was above the Brook on top of this dead Pine or Hemlock, 100_9950.JPG what type do you think it is?

A sub-adult "Harris"? About how big and how vocal?

Might also be a sub-adult Marsh Hawk. Photos aren't quite clear enough for feather distinction.

the one through the screen appears to be a hint of brown color in the tail - tough to tell.
    Possibly a red-tail hawk

I have to agree, the tail feathers don't look mature just yet. And the coloring looks juvenile

the one through the screen door is a red tail hawk - notice the partially molted/speckled breast just above the front of the legs.
The tail color is hard to distinguish in the picture but when the feathers lay flat you barely see any red/brown at all

I did send the latest picture of the Hawk to Cornell, hopefully they can get back with a positive ID.

The only response we received from Cornell was, where did you see this, so I emailed back the answer.

We'll see if they get back with an identification.

I just received this response from Cornell.

The picture is pretty rough, but from what I can see there is at least a strong possibility that is a Red-shouldered Hawk. It looks like I can see a bit of red in the shoulder area (a good start!). I’m getting an even toned back (as opposed to Red-tailed which often has more white), and the tail appears to have some black and white barring.

I think it's a broad- winged hawk, they are a little bigger than a crow have the tail banding like the red shoulder does, and the ones Iv'e seen in the woods around here have a gray color like the 1st pic.

    Holy crap, I was right!
Do you think they will give me an honorary degree from Cornell for that?
