My 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan was tired and needed to be put to sleep. 110,000 miles and needed work exceeding it's value. So, we just took delivery of a used 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, 4,900 miles. It's basically the now generation of my older van, with lots of electronic doodads to break down at some point. And, it'll hold firewood! We now have plans for a roadtrip down to the Atlanta area and then on to Southport NC. No firm dates as of this time.
Thanks! I had 3 of those stickers. I gave away two of them to other FHCers. I didn't want to use the last on my old van, as I didn't know how much longer I'd have it, and, those stickers are few and far between. I hope this one lasts a long time.
Enjoy the ride. A buddy just got one for his family's road trip car so they don't have to take his truck
Oh yeah. The car hoarding thread will live on. Too nice to put wood in IMO. Not a fan of doodads bells and whistles in a car. Worst part is voice activation. Our Murano has it and i nearly had a heart attack when i accidently hit the button on the steering wheel.
Congrats and good luck with er. Yep, the Chrysler is the one to have, especially with all wheel drive. If more drivers were honest about their needs and not so possessed by the hive-mind, the minivan segment would be larger than the so called SUV market. I could see myself going that way, but I still like my wood getters with some handling and of course a manual transmission.
That's a very nice ride, Mike. Hope you put a tarp in the back to haul wood on. Great idea to come visit down in Dixie. It would be great to while you're down this way. ATL is only 2-2 1/2 hrs from us, depending on what side you're on. When ya'll decide on a date, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I'm off that day.
Thanks We'll be satisfied with front wheel drive. I agree with the stigma of minivans. I can seat 8 people or flatten the seats and have lots of cargo room. It'll take a sheet of 4'x8' plywood, laying flat. It'll be full of winter camping gear in a couple of weeks.
I agree. Winter road Salt eats vehicles up here. Needed list - Brake lines, brakes Rear wheel bearing Transmission solenoid Front end tie rods Exhaust New tires
I have feelings about the midwest salt cartels. The one and only time I would lobby for it to be used is if the roads are completely iced over. If people in Colorado can navigate mountain roads without it, we don't need it here. Further thought...it's basically totalled right? Why can we not make insurance claims in these cases?
