This one is a bit long but used the winch to get a log down to some relatively flat ground. In my younger days I would have had no qualms about cutting it up on the steep hillside but at this point I prefer to work on the flat, even if it means more work to get it set up. In the initial pull, the choker came off as I didn’t have it tight but interestingly it dragged the log some distance with the log just sitting on the choker chain. I’ve got a big piece of the tree on the downhill side so still trying to decide how to go about getting it moved. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Nice! The capstan winches seem like a great way to keep wear and tear off your body. I’ve been tempted to get one but it would need to pull a lot of wood to justify the price. Is that the 3000 or the 5000?
This is the 5000. I used it quite a bit when I first purchased the property as there were some stacks of left over logs decked and I would pull the logs off the stacks to the road. Was able to write off the winch as a business expense when selling firewood so that helped ease the pain of the cost. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
