I eas putting wood in the stove and heard a loud bang on the window. This is what I saw. I don't know how hard a bird has to hit a window to do this.

Is it laying at the bottom of the window?

We've had that before. One time it was a young cooper hawk. He landed/fell in our carport. I watched him recover, took a good 10 minutes till he flew.

Looks like a "Window Angel". Must have hit hard. Hope he recovered.

Had the same thing happen. Except the bird hit from the inside of the house.

Bird was in the stove, I have all but one sliding glass door open. Open stove door, bird flies into the kitchen past 3 open doors, hits sliding glass door falls to the floor. Dog promptly crunches it. That’s how it went down.

The feather oils transfer to windows. We get them now and then.

I had a woodpecker hit a window and sit dazed for a few, we have stray cats so I went out to check on it, put it in a box and tried to find a rehabber but no luck so I opened it to let him fly and he did, seemed fine.

I have a feather on the sliding glass right now from a kamikaze bird, happened while at work.

A few years back, I was carrying a foil pan with a fresh cooked brisket in it. Went to walk out a patio door that the screen was closed on. Hardly ever used the screen on that door up until that day.

Well, I walked full force into said screen! Pan full of brisket got quite a jolt; I didn't drop it but the fluids in that pan (very hot) ended up on me, the screen and of course the floor. Never checked to see if there was an impression of the impact!

They make quite the thud when they hit. Our suet feeder right by the back window and they hit the glass now and then. Had a hummingbird hit the window a couple years back. Laid on the ground for a while, eventually righted itself and flew away. I didnt touch it. IMG_5500.JPG

This is the reason my wife liked to put stickers or whatever on any large glass. Birds tend to see a large open space but if part of the glass is blocked it keeps the birds away.

I think that particular bird had recently taken a dirt bath.

We do the same thing here. While there's still the occasional window strike, it's noticably less than before.

I have occasional window strikes too. They look bad, dazed and confused for sometimes 15 minutes, but almost always recover and fly off.
This guy is an example. He was gone shortly after.

Less window strikes but the dang things clamping onto the screen and roosting and tearing up window screens faster than I can replace them.

Tie some short ribbons on the screen.
