En route to a delivery last month and i passed this. Appears to have been cut in the last couple months. Plenty of room to pull off and park. Safety my main concern cutting roadside. Havent had time to get there and an area i dont travel often. Smaller red maple and some ash that was living when felled thrown in for good measure. Cant remember the last time i scored green (living) ash. IMG_4244.JPG IMG_4245.JPG IMG_4246.JPG IMG_4247.JPG IMG_4248.JPG
Good half cord load. IMG_4250.JPG IMG_4249.JPG IMG_4251.JPG Cool Siamese twin log. IMG_4252.JPG
Had a surprise visitor as i was finishing up. FHCer theedge stopped by to say hi as he recognized my truck. (kinda hard to miss it i must say) Good to see you again Ed. Bring coffee next time! :coffee:
A nice ash stump cutoff he took for a chopping block.

Still more nice Goldilocks ash there. Hopefully i can go back for it soon.

    Nice score, Brad!

I've been burning a mix of red maple and ash. I did bring some red oak to the house. Some was burned last night.

Ill see if i can get you a bigger one. I had a 3' diameter stump cutoff for mine when i hand split.
Is that an X25 or X27 Fiskars? My favorite for splitting. Their Isocore maul perfect for sectioning big logs.

Getting closer to oak season. Been wearing the sweat shirt all day at work the last week.

This load destined for mostly bundle wood.

Lots of nuggets I see as well. Couldn't or didn't want to leave them behind?

Didnt want to. Need them to refill.

I posted a CL ad listing half cords of nuggets for sale and got several hits. It about wiped my out my inventory of them. With empty bins i might as well fill them up. Two buyers have already called for another half cord of them. One i delivered yesterday and he will want more so i reserved it for him. Maybe a half cord+ on hand to refill them.

Second load today. Not as much ash as i thought. One was dead and the other green IMG_4261.JPG IMG_4256.JPG IMG_4257.JPG View attachment 399168 topped it off with red maple and cottonwood which was all that was left. Normally wouldnt touch cottonwood :emb:but had room and some decent rounds. Solid cord for the score. IMG_4260.JPG IMG_4265.JPG IMG_4266.JPG IMG_4267.JPG IMG_4268.JPG IMG_4269.JPG

It's the X25, happy with it! Thanks if you could get ahold of a larger stump for splitting, just let me know.
I was checking online at Stihl's website.... :)

Ran the splitter for a bit yesterday afternoon. Moved some to storage and stacked in the shed. Still lots more from the score to process. IMG_4287.JPG IMG_4288.JPG IMG_4289.JPG

I've moved to mostly ash during the day(cuz I have it) and red oak overnight. Plenty of coals 7-8hrs later to easily relight.

That ash is almost too nice for firewood Brad, and cottonwood?!?! There was a time not too long ago when you wouldn't touch it with my saw, truck, woodyard and stove   Now look at you! That stuff has got to be in the top 3 of fastest-drying species around here.

Trust me im not catching the cottonwood craze! :loco:

Well the volume of ash at the score was half a PU full and the only wood left was a smidge of red maple and cottonwood which made some nice rounds when bucked. When the time comes to use this wood in bundles 9-12 months from now ill place a split of cottonwood in each bundle as i did with the last CW i scored. Theres still some there and i would take it if i go back that way. I actually like the split CW makes vs. tulip poplar which dries just as fast.

Split, moved and stacked a bit more today.
I was pulling splits yesterday assembling bundles and came upon a wide "anorexic" pizza slice red maple split. Had to be 10" wide. Dont know why i split it like that but it made me think of the pieces you use for cribbing in your stacks.
