Oak ID please

    So, I picked up about 1/2 a cord of Oak from a guy near me. I can tell it's Oak, it's heavy. But what species, he says he gets it out of Minnesota , just curious.

    I'm guessing white or bur oak....

    I'll go with bur oak. That's got to be the toughest in the white oak group, taking on the frigid winters and high winds of the upper Midwest and plains states.

    Got me on this one. Its an oak for sure...maybe in the white oak family as stated.

    Yes, burr oak is good stuff. We don't have any that I know of around here but maybe 40-50 miles from there is plenty. There is even a village in MI by the name of Burr Oak.
