Just one of a few saws I've picked up on the cheap lately to go over and resell, this one I may hang on to. I always liked the 500vl, the only one in this series using the point ignition and tend to always be repairable if there's issues with the ignition. Despite how the saw looks in the "before" picture, it did run when I bought it. Only waiting a very few last small parts to call it done. Quite sure I still have an NOS vintage Echo labeled bar for it in my stash....Before and after.....:) 356590303_6100990720010319_3493312055505599407_n.jpg 20230912_071659.jpg

Very cool. I like vintage saws as much as I like modern saws.

That's a great saw. I have had one for almost 30 years now.

Nice job on the saw rehab. Do these old Echo's pay well on the flip side or is it more the journey?

Although I got this one cheap, I'll never re-coupe what I've put into it, but that's only because I wanted this one for myself. I picked a 440evl about the same time as the 500vl, both were had cheap, the 440 I should do okay on when I sell it, it needed very little. A picture of the 440. 20230830_143229_HDR.jpg

I started using Purple Power in concentrate in my parts washer, it does a good job, then off to my outdoor wash sink and then a good air drying with the compressor. Afterward a good wipe down with an oily shop towel.....:)

No, it was checked by the person I bought it from and it was past the serial number cut-off.
