Another 10 hour day on the wood but at least I have something to show for it. Drank almost 1.5 gallons of water ! Saw for scale. The biggest round measures 42” across! Behemoth wood for me. Have some hackberry that will rival but not quite as big.
Ten hours? Holy chit. How much you think you got there? I did a few hours taking it slow this afternoon and was drenched.
Yeah , long day and sure paying for it now. Tripped when an ash log rolled towards me and think I may have fractured my wrist ! Back isn’t happy either. Licking my wounds tonight. I don’t know how much is there , I would guess 3-4 cord maybe? I have about 3x this to still get bucked, moved and stacked, then split and stack of course.
Uh oh! Thats not good. See how it feels in the morning. Like you i take it slow, but ten hours wouldve killed me. Hopefully you had shade...i did. Posting thread now.
Nice work Mykidsdadd , it has to be tough working in the heat. We're dealing with real humid weather and the smoke from Quebec is here again after a nice stretch without it. Thunder, lightning with rain forecast all week up here, we have plenty of firewood up so the week off from s/s won't hurt us but the next dry spell we get, this years firewood will get top covered.
Wife had a splint so gonna isolate it for the night. I was i and out of the shade most of the day. Worst part was bringing big rounds down, kind of hilly and tractor gets tippy so had to go real real slow, of course in the sun the whole time for that.
Yahtzee!! Awesome start. Seems like this will be an epic stack of splits when finished. Can’t wait to see the .
don’t screw around with that wrist… Get it X-rayed asap and then go back in and get it X-rayed again in 2-3 weeks. Regardless of what the attending says. the scaphoid process is often missed in the first X-ray but will show up better in a comparison X-ray within the month. my wrist is full of arthritis and pain because of an old fracture like that. Took my VA doc some 20-25 years after the injury to figure it out. Fell on ice and caught myself putting my hands out. Such an instinctive thing to do too.
yes there is. Trying to stage this all in such a way I can hook splitter to atv or tractor and go right down the line and split, throw splits to one side then go down the next row. There will be at least another row of smaller rounds maybe 8’ apart from this one. Trick was finding enough level ground in the shade. This spot will do and conveniently close to my lean to and a fire pit for scraps. I love having a fire going while doing wood , even when it is 100 out , something about the smell I guess.
haha. Well my wife claims I was raised by wolfs so maybe some animal tendencies, mostly how I eat my food I think. I mow about 8-10 acres of our property and it drives me nuts when it gets too high. All this wood is hindering that so that is partly why I am pushing to get it off the ground and in one spot. Plus I love processing wood
