An era will be coming to an end. Other than a few times mechanically she tried my patience she has earned her keep and never grumbled much. Today she looks forward to retirement.

Black Betty looks pretty good still from a distance. When I put her together about 10 years ago I put new fenders, new bed patch panels, tailgate, read end, spring shackles, shocks and a windshield. Gave her a flat black paint job. Now the rockers and floor pan underneath, all the bed crossmembers and bed floor is rusted and weak. The 4.9 is still going but has a steady oil drip that is not worth my time. Along the way I have replaced the rear fuel tank, eliminated the mid tank, both fuel pumps, fuel lines, starter and tune ups a few times along with transmission work. RIP Black Betty !!!!

I'm sure we'll name the new one. Have not landed on one yet. My wife and I were just talking about that. Prior to Black Betty I had a 91 F150 we called the old gray mare. It hauled wood till the frame broke in half it donated a few pcs to the Betty build. I also have a 99 F150 goes by the White Stallion. Other than a few limited times it does not get worked for wood.

I do like eatonpcat's name of Ruby! "Ruby Red". Rolls off the tongue nicely.
