I have a saw box for 2 of my saws so they have most everything thing in them. Chaps, gloves, helmet and pickaroon stay in the truck. My cutting truck is mainly only used for that and mulch. Takes me just a few minutes to load saws, monster maul, cant hook and wheelbarrow if needed.

I use small Milwaukee bags for different things. 1 for wedges, 1 for tools, 1 big one for ropes and just sit my combi can thing in the pickup. I don't need everything on every job I do, so I like to have mine in separate bags.

    I do similar.

Back seat /floor has chaps, helmet, rope bag, log tongs, pickaroon, Mingo, wedges, back brace, felling axe/wedge banger,,,
That stuff stays in there at all times. Then I can just make sure I have the right size loops in the box for the bars mounted on whatever saws I take. Mix and oil stay in the garage, saws live in the basement.

I have a 5 gallon bucket with a bucket boss on it. It has everything I need for the field. Except the saws, chaps, and helmet. Those are a separate grab.

Hey The Wood Wolverine , Is there a part number for that Plano box you use for chains? If so, could you or
isaaccarlson share it please? What size chains does it hold?
    Thanks!

I use a large Milwaukee packout box with 2 small trays in the top. Top trays hold scrench, tuning screwdrivers, files, stump vise, extra spark plug, other small hand tools. In the bottom I keep wedges, small axe, extra chains, and chaps. I throw a two gallon jug of mix and a gallon of bar oil in the back of the truck along with peavey, and hookaroons. The most important thing, and it stays in the truck at all times, is a trauma kit complete with tourniquets, compression bandages, and suture kits, as well as provisions to treat small wounds.

Thank you Ohio dave …this is an early frontrunner for 2023 thread of the year. I’m a boy among men when it comes to hoarding/scrounging, so this is very informative for me.

I smiled when I read this, sounds like my truck. Wood cutting stuff, cow stuff, fencing stuff, other farm stuff, hunting stuff, truck stuff, random stuff.....lives in my truck. I'm bout due a rummage day in there and straighten a bit.....

Yep! Mines usually a one-seater. Keeps someone from wanting to hitch a ride!

I don't have a truck and cut wood just on our place (with an exception sometimes on neighbor's). Milk crate with necessary things goes with me to the woods.

Your solution is cheaper for chains, but these chain locker jobbys are dang nice. There are ccp versions as well for a little less money. I bought the Indiana made ones. They were received well as Christmas gifts to a couple buddys this year.

Those are a cool idea. Not sure how you would store and access multiple size chains in the same locker. Seems like you'd have to dig them all out if the chain you needed didn't happen to be on the top.

I saw something years ago in a forum similar to that plano box. Iirr, the chains stood up and where loaded in like a cd. So basically 2 rows of cds about 10-15 deep. I'll have to do some looking and see if i can find what I'm talking about. I'm finally to the point where i need one.

This looks about like mine. Gallon of bar oil, compact 1 gallon gas can, 3-4 wedges, can of bug spray, can of Husky fuel, scrench, tape measure, marking paint, tuning screwgie set, maybe a spare chain. Other ancilliaries end up floating around in the buggy bed.

it all fits in my chainsaw case. Except for fuel mix. quart of bar oil is enough for a day of cutting for me so that works for me.
If I do bring a spare chain I just lay it on the floorboard. File/scrench.screwdriver paintcan etc all fit into the chainsaw case.
Spare chain could fit into the case but I'd rather not.

You can stack up to 8 of them. Yes, you have to take the tops ones out to get to the bottoms. Not a big deal since they are not all tangled and knotted.

Milk crate carries gas and bar oil with a partition then wedges, log dogs for lifting rounds with the crane, single jack to drive the dogs and a hatchet. Two buckets carry a tape, upside down paint, sharpening equipment, shackles for log dogs. Also chaps and gloves, ear plugs, extra chains in bags, scrench and other miscellaneous stuff. Chainsaws and axes etc. are under lockdown in the garage until moved to the truck canopy heading out. I was working in a secluded wooded area and a smart azzed riff raff guy appeared and asked me if I " wasn't scared that someone would smash and grab my extra saw or equipment while I was cutting? Didn't look like I could chase someone very fast." Said "No, I'm always aware of my surroundings and never further than pistol shot from my truck". He left quickly!
