The building next to my company has been bought and renovations have started, one of them is getting rid of some trees, I only snagged this one because I've got so much to split at home the other's are smaller and I don't recognize them right off hand. So my Saturday plans are set! The timing of this is almost perfect, bought 2 pulp hooks from farm & fleet in Wisconsin $11 each after S&H $32 everywhere else wanted $45 and these should be here Wednesday and I may grab a fiskars maul Thursday to split these rounds up.
Good amount of wood from that. Can they leave it in long lengths for you to cut your size from it? Tree service bucked rounds are beyond annoying.
When they drop it, see if you could hit it with a mingo marker or similar so they know what to buck the rounds to, or, just have them limb it and let you do the bucking.
Most of my wood scrounges have been from work in recent years...some is scrounged after hours, some I was paid to cut and haul "away" It's a tough gig, but you know, somebody's gotta do it...
Cash? What's that? I just get these electrons designated to my bank account every 2 weeks...fortunately, most places take said electrons for payment these days...
I'm hoping they will, I asked them to leave it as long as they could, these guys seem to be a real small company doing just enough tree work to pay the bills?
That'll be a dream to process, if they ley you do it. I could see 12" rounds angled on the ends if not. I'm with Hork, see if you can at least mark it if they insist on bucking.
At this time they don't even have it on the ground, with my luck the new owner found out and told them to leave it trimmed.
Yup. Probably gonna get in some trouble with these They'll be nice for some larger stuff, not a main tool at least for now. I can't decide whether to sharpen them or not and they might need some larger handles=better grip, more power to plunge into wood
I feel fortunate that about all my firewood follows me home from work. This one will follow me home soon.
Northern red. Has been in decline for several years. Client is deciding to be proactive before it gets the wilt. That landscaping around the base is likely what caused the initial trouble.
