How much is in the lean-to? My folks had a CB6048 that heated 2 houses and 2 shops...it would eat somewhere north of 20 cords/year...up to maybe 25 on a bad year...it has been replaced by a HeatMaster G10000 now and the first year (last winter) it only ate 11 cords...we replaced the junk underground lines this summer so it will be interesting to see how much wood usage that drops off...
It’s 32 feet long, 8 feet deep and I stack generally 7.5 ft high. So roughly 15 cords. And from now until 4/15 and refill day it will burn almost all. Can vary also on species as I burn whatever is next in the pile, Maple and cherry to locust and oaks. A full lean to of oak and locust I think would leave me more leftover. the pile for next year probably has more oak than past piles so that bodes well for next winter
How well I know as I also have an OWB and have had since '98-2000 mark. Got to find some arborist friends for sure!
I think you have said this before but it finally dawned on me this time. In the summer I load it that way for hot water. Winter, never considered it. Will have to rethink my loading methodology and see if I can teach this old dog a new trick or two! Thanks for the thought provoking idea!
