How can you roll a huge log?

    Are they like these? They look useful but I've never seen them in use over here. To get them out of the log I believe that you put a steel bar through the eye and turn them and they loosen easily?

    That’s the stuff. Used them for the cable hoist on the logsplitter. Didn’t use them for long as I eventually found the log tongs easier to use.
    Never tried twisting them out. Didn’t learn that until I had already stopped using them.

    Don't overthink it. Dig two or three holes under it (for bar clearnace) and cut it down to more managable lengths.

    And they had a bucket tractor right there :)

    That’s how my neighbor gets logs on his sawmill. Single rope and a boat style hand winch mounted on a pole that slides in the log stop bracket. Whatever the proper name for that is.
    Works much better than I expected it to.
