Well the saw gods were smiling on me today. I live 3.5 hours north of Kansas City, almost never get down there but once a year. Today as I was leaving to go to Kansas City, Chvymn99 messaged me about selling me his barely used Solo 665. Since I haven't been bashful about wanting one. ;)Well guess where Chvymn99 lives, 10 mins from KC. We met up at Cabelas, he sold it to me for a smoking great price and now it's home with me.
    The End.
    p.s.
Hats off to a great guy, Thanks again Kevin, yea he has a great name too!

By the way, I expected Chvymn99 to pull up in maybe a 99 Chevy. But it was better, a Ford!
I forgot to ask him about that...

It was a pleasure meeting you too....everything happens for a reason, and some how everything line up today at the right time.... You'll enjoy it, I'm certain. Glad you made it home safe and sound. I just got home from closing up the shop for the three day weekend.

Well as far as the name goes. This is basically my sign in name since 1999 and all I had owned in vehicle up to my Ford was Chevy's (92/96/03)& still have 04 Chevy.

    Glad you got one.

I want one after reading all this about them. I like 70cc saws and a 65cc one that can run with them is fine by me.

    Morning report from the woods....
I threw on a 24" bar and chain off of my 372xtorq this morning. I have some real green wet oak and some dead wood to try. Two things came to mind, first is Big Block V8 type torque for saw to muscle car reference. Second, Big Block V8 boat anchor type weight. I cut a lot of standing dead and dead fall hardwood so the torque for me is better than speed. But if I'm going to run it all day or all weekend at that weight I may have to make it a 681, soon.
Overall I love the torque to spare! Looks to be a real quality, well made saw.

If I had known he would have sold I would have bought it or traded the 088 or 395 towards it. I would like to keep one 65cc and one 81cc.

Thought they said weight was similar to 372 or a pound heavier

The Solos, Dolmars and Makitas have a different feel in the hands than a 372, which makes the extra pound or so more noticable than a 372. Some guys like the feel of a Jonsered better than a Husqvarna others do not, the Jonsereds have a different angle to the top handle than the 372, the Solos appear to have a top handle more lide a 372.

The jonsered has more spacing between the handles. The 2171 I had wasn't bad nose heavy with a 30" cannon bar as bad as a 460 or 372 was.

Can I just swap a 681 p&c on this to get that or is there more to it?

I am not quite sure what you are asking, but yes you can bolt a 681 jug right on the saw if you can find one. You can also use a P/C kit for a 7900 plus a spacer under the jug and it will bolt right on. DO NOT waste your time on an AM BBK! They are in a word 'underwhelming'! Saw does not have the case capacity to support the BBK.

Glad that you like it.....I'll miss her unique ideal tone... The weight is a issue, but not overall in the whole picture. Since I don't usually cut all day long. I usually cut till I'm tired and move on to some else that requires different muscles. Plus that's why there's 50cc saws...

Yes, I was asking if a simple p&c for a 681 is all that's needed to make it into a 681. No tricks or machining? I know your upcoming how to thread idea mentioned just that 665 to 681. I don't want to mess with it until I'm perfectly clear what's needed. I'm comfortable performing that myself. Thanks
