He's Marty Raney, star of Homestead Rescue. He was attending the Woolly Worm Festival in Beattyville, Kentucky while rescuing a family Homestead lost in the flash flooding of this past summer.

My wife, after some coaxing, ask him for his autograph so she could give it to her father, a faithful fan of his show. He said: "Is he home? She said he was and he said: "Call the old boy up and I'll have a chat with him!" So they'll spoke for almost a half an hour. Quite a nice guy and he made the old man's week.

I've seen the show a few times while visiting my father-in-law but I don't follow it. I don't have cable or satellite at home so I never watch the show otherwise. My thought on reality television is the only reality to it is that it's not real. But this guy changed my mind a little bit on his show. He seems like the real deal. All I know he made an 84 year old man with cancer quite happy and that was very real. Thanks Marty Raney, you da man!

The show is fine. However, the way the Raneys talk is annoying. It's as if every word needs to be emphasized.

I fine the show to be DVR-worthy.

Good on Marty to make time for the phone call!

Never was a fan of the show, but reading this, will look at it in another viewpoint for sure. Great to hear of normal people treating people with kindness.

I love when "famous" people are well grounded like that and don't feel too good to appreciate the people that make em that way.

We watch the Raineys once in while, doing their thing helping folks with their homesteads. We get a kick out of Marty and his white shirts. He must have a boat load of clean ones... ya know... so he won't miss a chance to show off all his chest hair...  Yup, he sure does over due the short stop emphasis, when he's splainin' sumthin'... :picard:More than a few of the families they've helped tho seem genuinely blown away with all of the upgrades to their properties. Good stuff. Cool that Marty called her father in-law... bet he has fun with that kind of fan contact.

Agreed, not a bad show to have on in the background, just don't take any lessons from Marty on chainsaw safety. Some of the things he does while falling trees or building make me cringe. For example:

Are the woolly worms on his forehead part of the festival?

That's pretty cool. I think he comes off as a guy trying to help, and he's not afraid to commit to doing the best he can. I don't watch the show regularly, but I've seen enough episodes.
