When did this happen? I haven't paid any attention since I did it 4-5 years ago. Prolly looks really good with the big @ss HD air filter.

Dolmar changed it just lately, not sure exactly when. Being completely honest, IDK if the complete cover system comes with the C/P kit, however I do know that what Dolmar calls the 'hood' comes with the C/P kit.

Randy, you provide great services and have customers lined up for several months just to get a 'Mastermined' saw! Some folks have no idea of the value of what you provide and know little of the process/gains available from porting a saw.

Some, when they understand the inner workings of a two-stroke engine will still determine that your services are the most cost effective means of gaining more performance from their one or two saw plan. However, if they know nothing about the inner workings of a two-stroke IMHO they are not candidates for your services.

Lets' face it 'swaping parts' IS what most dealers do, so why not teach the average chainsaw owner how to do this most basic of processes on their own, allowing them to save the $60-85 an hour labor fee to get some real gains from having their saw ported.

I was going to drop my 2 cents that this is not a build everyone can do, but as KRL already alerted everyone too these are RARE parts.

I say go ahead with the build - at a bare minimum it shows folks how easy it is to pull a top end and do an aftermarket swap on a torched C/P.

Really should have documented the disassembly of the clamshell 125B husky blower as that's what a lot of folks that may not be mechanically inclined will have - many more bolts but not like dropping a Northstar out the bottom of my Caddy;)

As far as cost effectiveness is concerned, who would want to spend the $ to amas the machine tools and acquire the expertise (through training or trial & error) necessary to build themsleves a Masterminded saw. Not me, I'll send it off to Randy!

I can't remember for sure.......but I think the Solo has a Walbro carb, and the Dolmars are wearing Zamas. Is that correct?

I like to tinker any way so the tools aren't really that expensive for what you're doing. I mean I have more in diesel timing tools and stuff like that then I did have in all the saw tools until the lathe. It will be used for other stuff any way so it's not that bad.

    Yes. That's what mine has.

Both of the two I still have also have Walbro carburetors. I bought the last 11 in the U.S.A., sold 9 and kept two.

Yes please!! I'm a machinist by trade, but have been out of the shop for better than 10yrs and have no access to a lathe or a Bridgeport. :( I still have all of my tools though!!! :)

This is the kind of stuff I can do in the garage with tools I have on hand most likely. Consider me subscribed!!!

Do you really need 2 though? 1 less would take up less beautiful new floor space in the shop. It still doesn't feel right calling your custom cabin a shop.;)

I'm just copying what Mike did (Mdavlee). He was first. Said he was tired of all the Creamsicle Avatars ;)

This is a true story.. I am a Creamsicle man!! But I LOVE this 665!! It really seems like a "Meh" saw to look at and hold. But damm does it run!!

is it just Colorado or do other states prohibit sales of saws over 16" ? (unless you are licensed tree professional, logger, forest service etc)
