First and foremost, apologies to all for going silent for months. Lots of family health issues this year. Now that things are calmerish, getting back to life and this forum. One thing I noticed is my firewood obsession has spread heavily. I now own a sawmill, which I did buy this summer. I have a decent woodshop, which I have been filling/developing for a few years. I also bought an Oklahoma joes offset smoker, burning only my wood on it. So every time I get a log….. you guessed it…..is it firewood or wood working or milling or smoker wood. Too some extent it’s this site fueling the addiction and ideas. My wife wants a wood addiction intervention I think
Sounds like you’re trying to make the best of some less than ideal circumstances. Good to have you back, and looking forward to some pics of your new toys
Start cranking out some really nice stuff from the woodshop and I bet her concerns with the intervention will dwindle.
Glad you are getting back to sort of normal. Yeah I know the feeling about a mill , I have the same disease with almost the same symptoms with the exception of an offset smoker; I have been looking but want a good one and have been looking but still can't seem to find what I want. Really want a Lang but their build time is way out there. If I was to order I would be lucky to have a 4th of July BBQ so the search continues. Been doing some woodworking myself with wood that I have milled , trying to finish up a wood storage box/bench for firewood instead of a plastic bin in the corner then onto Oak kitchen table as soon as that is done. I now look at logs as mill material , if it doesn't measure up for that then it becomes firewood. Wife thinks I have issues
You can't blame this forum for 'feeding your addictions' we are merely just a stepping stone on your way to full bore obsession LOL. Good luck out there, if you're enjoying it all and playing nicely, then why the hell not!
Nice to see you back! Hope all is well with family/friends. Life happens. Yes it is addicting...VERY. Have the same "problem" here. Having a wood turner & miller at my disposal it becomes quite the dilemma for sure. Only real problem is getting logs to the miller. Couple jackasses and an 18 mule team as buzz-saw put it! You do like your wood toys. Miss that half track.
Meh...keeps you out of the bars, right? Sawmill...yeah, I'd have a dilemma every time I got a nice log...
Right... keep in mind that there are worse addictions out there!! Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
