I really appreciate you guys help. I saw the flaky bark but wasn't sure trying to match it up in pictures. I guess it wasn't a terrible score since it was free, the gentleman helped my wife and I load it on our trailer and it was only a block away. I don't know how it splits but I will soon find out as the weather here is supposed to be 50's at night and 70's for highs all next week, great for working it up. Again, thanks for the help, I knew I could count on you guys.

Thanks for the support guys. I've slowed down a bit this year, can't handle the real big stuff anymore. The leukemia, melanoma stage 3 and now prostate cancer have sapped some of the energy I used to have, but I'll keep doing what I love as long as I can. Nothing like having a fire in the woodstove and sitting in front of it knowing you worked up the wood that's burning in it and not paying the electric company. All good.

Glad to hear you can still do the things you love. That makes such a difference.

Firewooding is good for you. I like cherry a lot for firewood. Wish they grew bigger here. I don't know why but that would be a big one around here, don't know why they don't grow big because everything else does. Maybe that's it, the other species outcompete.
