A beautiful morning again. I keep pecking away at the wood that needs splitting but can only do a little at a time now. The days of working at it all day are long past for me. But we keep on doing it little by little.

Exactly how I went about my load of logs this year. I tried to get at least one chainsaw gas tank worth cut a day. Some days were 0, some days were more. (much to 99's disapproval)

For splitting, I would try to get at least one mini truck load split and stacked a day with the same results.

The work area was in the shade during the mornings which was a huge benefit also because the day had not warmed up yet.

But, there were most days that I overdid it and paid the price dearly. :pain: You will be more careful not to do that! :handshake:

I split for 3 hours this morning, working on 26-27 wood. 1 or 2 tanks of gas on the splitter is all care to do now days. Retirement allows me much more time to do the stuff I enjoy. Little bits at a time. Screenshot 2022-07-14 1.08.39 PM.png

Backwoods Savage Any day I can put in 3-4 hours of firewooding, I consider it a full day of work and call it quits. Doesn't make much difference if I am cutting or splitting. You have a couple years on me but I know what you mean when you say you can't go all day like you used to.:handshake::BrianK:

Firewood is my full time job. That equates to four hours a day & about 4 days a week. Any more than that and my body joints rebel.

The beauty of being a little bit ahead on the wood supply. Nice work.
After a couple of back injuries, I just do about 30-45 minutes here and there of wood work. Nothing too big. I’ve been making that work for several years now with no real dent in the dry wood supply.

Like other's have said Dennis, slow and steady. I'm going to try and get something done tomorrow morning as well. Just so hard to get motivated plus the heat isn't helping.

In the kind of heat you get there I would definitely be waiting until fall.
