And good score for me. I guess they didn’t want it because of the metal stain? It’s dumped on one of my storage piles, so I’ll take it. Finders keepers Friday
Somebody bought a lot of bandsaw blades with that yard tree LOL. Can’t blame them for tossing it. Makes good firewood tho.
Why it's plum chock full 'o nuts! I'm ah bettin' dat metal gived der saws ah hard time and dats why hits on da junk pile.
Had a nice big White Oak trunk from my neighbors property. Found out the hard way he used stainless steel nails to put up no trespassing signs somewhere in the past Dangit.
Has anyone here ever mentioned using a metal detector to do a quick sweep if you think there’s a chance of nails? Impractical I guess because you’d have to sweep around the whole surface. Pretty sure the big mills have metal detectors, but obviously they can justify the cost and have the proper infrastructure.
You guys would kill me. Everytime I cut down and up a large tree on this property (usually from wind damage), it goes on the burn pile from saw logs to limbs. No woodstove here, just 2 biomass stoves. I have some really good burn pile roasts.
Thats stinks they hit the metal. I know buzz-saw has hit a nail once. Those are nice timbers. Will you utilize them for something rather than just burn them? Make some nice racks maybe?
I’d like to use the beam for something. Maybe a firewood shelter, or work bench. Still need a chainsaw shelf.
You know it. That is a chance you take , sometimes you " nail " it and sometimes you don't. It's all part of the game.
Try as I may, I cannot seem to give away the wood so I just roast it. Got a nice pile accumulating right now with 2 round bales in the middle of it. Great thing about bad round bales is, they soak up a lot of my drain oil from the tractors too. Keeps them from smoking too much. Nothing more stinky than a smoldering round bale. I've gotten to the point where I recycle my tractor drain oil to my mowers and pressure washer. No point in 'wasting' it, oil has gotten pretty expensive (like everything else) and my drain oil usually isn't that dirty. Tractors get changed every spring, filters too. Each one holds 12 quarts in the sump and 15 gallons in the gearboxes.
Have not tried to do anything to it yet. I just hung it on the “ To Sharpen “ Hook. I have the grinder and a bunch of blades to sharpen. Just need a rainy day off to spend a few hours grinding.
