This year the pickings have been slim, we have several fox around stupid chicken keepers that let their birds run free. Oh well, they will learn, maybe.

Well wildwest I'm now over 800 scanned photos. Photo 699 is a picture of Marty's mother there is likely more since I haven't taken pictures out of any of the many albums yet.

I have photos going back to the early 1940's.

We have been thinking about a SAVANNAH CAT...(Cross between a Siamese and a Serval cat )
Very large long legged spotted kitty results... 18-20 " at the shoulder 4' standing on their hind legs...(Easily peek over the kitchen counter) 30-40 pounds on some.

Can jump 8 feet straight up.

Our little Chupi cat is 10 years old now.....Just starting to look to the future.
    The Sphynx live 8-14 years

The Savannah cats live into their 20's.....

We have a breeder about 20 miles from us.

Decided to pay them a visit.....Likely go see Big Kitties this weekend....

    The Rain is back again.
We had a pretty good BOOMER roll through last night...Dropped over a half inch of rain...
The boomer blocked out the SATELLITE TV for 30 minutes.....

Getting awfully close to 60" since October 1st.....Soggy..

Bigger storm for tomorrow and Sunday coming with over an inch of rain forecast.
Stove back on this morning for a while anyway...

Just a random thought. How about locating the bird feeder in the middle of a shallow pond?
Would the squirrels swim out to the bird feeder? The pond need only be one to two feet deep, so that
a person could wear waist waders with boots to fill the bird feeder.

Yes and no, this bear no longer can wear waders nor can I safely navigate even puddles.

Got all the mowing and trimming done over the past couple days. Can't believe how simple stuff kills my hands, knees and back. Have to do part 1 day, skip a day to recover then finish up.

Have to repair the self propel on the EGO battery mower. These have a 2-piece, slide up and lock into place handle. When extended it activates a switch to allow it to power up. You would have thought they would have designed it with a multi pronged plug and socket that would separate when pushed down and reconnect when extended. So there is a switch for main power but the self propel speed control (just a pot with a lever knob) just has the wires run down a flex tube on the handle so the wires flex with every extend and collapse. So have a break in one of the 3 wires (found a youtube vid on it so I know which wire to splice as it moves but very slow). For what these sell for (and mine is 6 yrs old) a little better thought out engineering would have been nice.

The original battery that came with it is now 6 years old and still holds a decent charge , it'll run the mower for about 50+ min down from the hour when it was new. Bought a 2nd battery 18 months ago, swap 'em every other mow.

True story.I was fishing the Cape Cod canal one day when someone behind me spotted something in the current. At first I didn't see it but after a minute I could see something coming right at me.It was probably 100 feet out and swimming like crazy. It made it to shore and ran right past me.It was a grey squirrel. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I never would have believed it.

Sort of like putting a fence up to keep the whistle pigs out of the garden, they will go up and over.

So we had 2 big ash trees in the front yard were dead and needed to be removed. I had asked the town and our utility company to do it due to the proximity to the road and power lines. They both declined. Called a few cutting outfits and I had prices of about $3,000 for removal which I couldn't swing right now. A few big branches had fallen in the last few storms, one of which landed partially in the road. Figured I had to do something soon. My son also had a big dead tree at his home that was close to both his and neighbors homes. BIL had a buddy that was looking for tree work and he sent him to my sons. Gave a low price to cut tree and had it out of there PDQ. My kid then sent him to my house and well he gave my son a unbelievable price and son said to just drop em. Now I've got to work harder than I wanted to today and try to get my front yard back in shape. A few folks I know are looking for some wood and they will be stopping by next week to help and take some firewood. Will be a test for my knee today.

    Doggy
