Cannot seem to shut it down and do a spring cleaning. It's cold here today again and damp. Presently 54 and while it isn't below freezing, it's not balmy either and not even spring like. Been getting a lot of rain here. Garden isn't in, not even tilled up, ground is too wet. Need to cut hay and that is out too. Too wet to cut, won't dry down, not that I'm all that anxious with off road diesel at $4.50 a gallon and 46 Urea granulated at 50 bucks per 50 pound sack of you can even get any. Few of the farm fields here are planted and most aren't even fitted yet. Gonna be an interesting year out here in fly over country. I kind of lucked out with Urea. I bought 2 extra skids of it last summer at at 15 bucks a sack. Had no inkling that the price would climb to what it is presently but I'm glad I did anyway. Diesel is not so lucky. I have enough on hand to run this year but who knows what next year will bring. Crazy prices, crazy times, wacky weather too.
The weather is as crazy as everything else these days! We have had 90F days followed by 50F days and back. One day we are loading the stove the next turning on the AC. We don't get rain from June through September so we knock as much of the weeds and brush down in spring as we can, fire being an issue. I'm way behind because of the late rains and everything is still growing. I'm afraid the weather will decide stay in the 90's and 100's and it will be too hot mow safely and I'll have to do it all with a trimmer!
Ran all night on low and is running presently as well. Only 53 here, not inside however. 70 in here. I can do around 24 hours on 1 5 gallon pail of pellets. Asked the wife if I should shut it off and her reply was NO. The stove in the shop is off and has been. it's cleaned and sleeping.
Same game here in NW Oregon Stove on for a while this morning and then maybe off by noon. Rain looking possible by 9:30 am and then dry again by noon. We have been running the tractor/mower hard to get the tall grass down near the house and the out buildings.... We have had nearly 60" of rain since October 1st ( Start of the water year) May has seen over 5" of rain so far.....Good bet that the total for May will hit 6" by the end of the month. Have used way more fuel in the stoves than in past years. Normally a few "Spot fires" in the stove in May is normal for us and Done by June 1st Serviced the AC unit the other day and had to add a bit of Refrigerant.... After 28 years of use....Can't complain at all. The one fitting at the Evaporator has has always had a tiny oil seep....Yup...an itty bitty leak... The tech added about a pound of refrigerant.....All good to go.... I hope we do not see the 100+ heat like we had last summer. That sucked... Strange weather indeed.....
I need to get my first cut hay off but there is no consistent window to do it. Always at the mercy of Mother Nature and as late she's been peeing her britches every other day.
