So I bought a new to me trailer and want to put expanded metal on the sides of it. My question is what specific size/strength of mesh do I need to use? The stuff that landscapers use on trailers is what I've got in mind but I'm not sure how to shop for it...Thanks.

I'd use 3/8, something strong enough to hook a tie down to.

Take a look at horse fence panels at farm stores. They have 2 x 4 openings and are 5 foot x 16 foot galvanized. Bring a bolt cutter to shorten length for hauling.

I don’t know exactly what you need/want but maybe this can at least provide some value.

When I buy expanded metal for the shop it is 16-18 ga. 1/2” swo. 26.24 lbs per 48” x 96” sheet. 109 bucks per sheet at last purchase, which won’t be very accurate now with the way the steel market has been. This is the only size we buy, it works for our needs. 7AE39636-507C-4CCD-BE5B-6EEA1A7D0326.jpeg
