Oh boy I just got this delivered. One for me, one for my buddy.

28" Tsumura light weight bar. 3/7" pitch, .050" gauge. Aw yeah.

Only about a month. So far it is better in every way that the 20" echo bar. There's really no downside other than the fact that the saw is longer, so it's more awkward in tight spaces. It doesn't seem any heavier than the 20" bar and it seems to cut just as well. I haven't run it enough yet to really find its weaknesses yet though.

I thought it was very light compared to an OEM Stihl 28" bar for sure. But I don't have a saw to put it on yet!!! So I can just stare at it for now until my piston and cylinder arrive hahaha.

I saw one review on YT that said you should refrain from bending it in big wood.....but then again, you should refrain from doing that anyways I would imagine.

    I want to try one in 32" + 36"
But I really Need to order a roll of 63guage 3/8 . Semi skip chisel chisel. Then I can order bars.
28" is good for somethings for me. But it's too short for others. That is what I ve been running this winter.
I guess I just spent so long with bars over 30" that it always leaves me wishing I had more bar length.
But I prefer 63 ga for long bars as I break fewer chains with 63 ga than 50 ga.
That TsuMura Light bar looks Nice tho

    24”
With 60cc and hardwood I think that’s about the limit.

You should have a backup saw though, n'est-ce pas? You know just in case a bar is pinched, or something goes awry and you're in the middle of it in the field....

I bring my 028 with a 18" bar and the 034 S with a 20" currently. At times I've even chucked the Makita 14" in the truck as a secondary backup.

Yeah I read the 28" bar with the MS460 is right in the sweet spot. Plus I don't really need anything bigger - maybe 32" - but I think this will work out well for my casual firewood needs.

I'm curious to see how the same bar performs in a tree service environment. So I will post back after some time.

That was the excuse I gave myself for the new bar…. I have the 20” as backup in case of a pinched bar.

I’ll probably get a second saw eventually. One will probably fall into my lap at some point.

I used my neighbors 460 and it had either a 28 or 32. It cut really good but it wasn’t a lightweight bar so it was front heavy. With a Tsu that length I think it would be really nice

I got all excited because UPS delivered the Meteor piston and cylinder kit........

And this is what I saw when I examined the cylinder...... :headbang::hair::doh:

PITTING. On the inside of the cylinder walls......as if some acid was not cleaned off properly.

Called up the vendor and they are sending me a new kit. The hyway kit had a piston with a huge scratch on it and now this. I can't believe my luck.

I'm also not too pleased with how wonky the exhaust port looks. Compared it to OEM which is nice and straight and slightly larger too.

Meteor on the left below, OEM on the right.

Kudos to the vendor for sending me two return labels.....but I think maybe they should check their kits before shipping them out. I mean it was very obvious to me the second I opened the box.

There was also a sharp edge on top of the cylinder too. Not cool.

So now I have to wait some more until I can continue building the MS460. Ugh.

Aftermarket cylinders are… typically… no where near OEM quality.

Ready to sell me that old junk oem cylinder yet?

You’ll learn soon enough. Most Asian stuff isn’t worth the ibuprofen that it took to get rid of the headache. Especially if it doesn’t outrun your 034 Super

The Hyway cylinder looked pretty spot on. I'm sure someone could find fault with something but for the price I'm willing to experimentate a little. Let's see how it goes.

    The compression is pretty ridiculous.

The cylinder has some scoring on the exhaust side that I can feel with my fingernail. Still interested?

I put together the MS460 today. For some reason I lost the spark arrestor for the muffler, the screw for the spark arrestor and I also seem to have misplaced the muffler-to-cylinder bolts as well as the muffler heat shield. I was tearing the garage apart looking for it but I'm tired so I'll leave that for tomorrow. They've all got to be together somewhere wtf.

So I wonder where I put the darn spark arrestor. The front of the muffler has a huge dent in it and it's rusty and ugly. I may be tempted to order a dual port Hyway one for $32.

I did remember to reinstall the snap ring below the worm gear for the oil pump. I also made sure I had the correct length screws for the oil pump so I wouldn't puncture the case.

It's kind of annoying me that I misplaced that spark arrestor. I specifically recall removing a spark arrestor to clean it...but now I can't remember if it was for this saw or not.

Looks good. We have a 28" Tsumara lite bar for the MS461. Pulls it great, even with 8 pin sprocket...
Use a 32" regular Stihl too.
