Probably have spent time playing Atari and Pacman when I was younger. Have a casino 5 miles from my house-been there 6-8 times for banquets in the dining hall or a drink and a sandwich in the bar-never set foot in the gambling area.
No casinos in many years but lots of time in my late teens early 20’s. Yes, a lot of time playing games in my youth. Grew up in the Atari, Nintendo era. Didn’t really play any games for 30 years then during covid times started playing online games with my son, wife and friends. More of a social thing now. Still play a couple times a week.
We have a casino about 30 minutes away, went there a few times, but the blackjack tables were $35 per hand. But when Chazsbetterhalf youngest son turned 18, he wanted to go and play against me on the poker table, well I won quite a bit in just a few hands. The other players all cued in on him, but I ended up busting him out. When I told them it was my GF's son they said she'd be mad.. I laughed. When she came by to see how things were going, I told her.. She was all "if he wants to play, he's gotta pay". He did NOT get his $65 back as a "parting gift". We did buy dinner though.
Video games...well, seeing as they only hold my attention for about 2-5 minutes, depending on how close to 30 seconds in I lose my first life, definitely haven't occupied much of my life, at all. And casinos, I absolutely do not get what the draw is, once we blew the $5 seed money that the casino hotel gives you, we were on to bigger n better things, like seeing the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon.
I like video games. Had an Atari 2600 new in the way early 80's. Also had an apple IIe PC as a kid, one of the only ones in our school at the time. Played a lot of A-10 tank killer on the PC. Played D&D and car wars, but those were not computer based. Had a Sega master system, enjoyed playing Nintendo as friends houses, played a lot of Nintendo 64 in college, got a PlayStation early in the game, then an xbox360, which I still have, along with the ps1. Haven't played any of those in a while. The xbox is still hooked up, but I probably should unhook it. Casinos, I'm over 10 hrs, but I don't really gamble. I've met friends that like to gamble at casinos. I've thrown a few quarters into slots, and that's about it.
I have played games on the computer. When our sons were little, maybe back in the 70's, we spent maybe an hour in a casino in Atlantic City, NJ, just long enough to loose $10.00 and then we quit.
I've spent quite a few hours playing video games. Casino, maybe a short few hours one time. Took a bus trip to wine country NY and the casino gave everyone $50 credit. I lost it pretty quick, and my wife left with just over 1/2 of that. Lost most and then won it back. No desire to ever go again,
Never could stand to play video games. I remember when pong first came out, not for me. Only time in a casino was on our honeymoon on a cruise ship. Only thing I played was the quarter pushing machine. Got pretty good at shaking it for more quarters. Occasionally the alarm would go off and my wife would look mortified. Nobody ever said anything, probably saw I was just putting them back in anyway.
Not much for video games. I did play pinball machines some during school years. As for casinos, I almost went in once. I was staying at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City after the big bike race. Casino was on second floor and to get to my room I had to walk to the other side. I thought once, why not walk through the casino on the way to the elevator? I got to the top of the stairs, took a quick look then decided against it. Turned around and went back down. As for gambling, I won't even play cards if money is involved. I have seen several friendships go sour because of that so Judy and I just said no. We would play cards but only for fun.
Never in my life have I been in a casino. I have no desire to either. I don't even want to visit one for non-gambling reasons. I can guarantee I will never regret not visiting Las Vegas, Atlantic City or where ever else they might be. I did spend time on video games back in the late 80's. I bought my (then) husband a Nintendo. I'm not sure how much I played as I was working pretty much 7 days a week, sometimes at two jobs and at others just putting up to 12 hours/day in at 1 job. So, it wouldn't surprise me if I ut in less than 20 hours, but wjould guess it was at least a little over 10 hours.
I played Pacman and Galaga at night after closing the taco joint I worked at in the early 80's. Me and the other person would play one game before leaving (yes, the machines were in the taco place - along with a real jukebox). I didn't even own a TV , and worked 2 full time jogs (literally only days off were Thanksgiving and Christmas). That was my total entertainment outside the apartment and didn't really cut into the meager time I had to sleep and go to the laundry mat. I think I remember being in an actual arcade once. Didn't spend long in there - to much noise and too many people.
I walked through a casino once. Between me, my wife, and a buddy, we spent .... ...40 cents... (was there with a group for dinner) Video games? A few hours on atari (pong), mattel electronic football, and an occasional solitaire game on my fone. Probably more than 10 hours combined, but not a lot more... I don't actually know if my tv is plugged in. Canceled cable 8+ years ago.
I love video games. First person shooters like war games such as call of duty or huge stories with killing like fallout. Very cheap entertainment by the fire. I consider these games similar to reading a book. An interactive book with choices and some action. It’s not a ball bouncing game but a deep experience if you choose the right game. I am just a bit young for Atari but we had an appleIIe computer as a kid and got really good at blackjack on it. Called “apple 21”. Didn’t really get into the video games until they got good in the late 90s. casinos are pretty horrible. Stink of cigarettes, mind games with the mazes, no clocks, no windows, constant noise and lights. Lots of sad addicts. I don’t gamble with money either so maybe that’s why I’m not interested. We love to people watch though and eat.
My wife and I have a lot of hours playing Super Mario Brothers on the Wii. That's about it though. I've spent about 20 hours in casinos, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Riverboats..... mostly killing time while other people gambled. We're definitely not gamblers, I don't play lottery tickets unless it's to pitch in a buck or two when the neighborhood gets the fever.
