Termites on Black Locust

    Scouting a future BL score today. Rolled a barkless log and...termites. Never seen them on BL and RARE i run into them. Only have seen carpenter ants and borers in BL. IMG_0738.JPG

    Not to worry. Ill torch them should i end up taking the wood this season. All my wood is stacked off the ground and have never seen them in my stacks.

    I'm glad sometimes I live far enough north that they're non existent around here.

    Did a little research because I don’t know diddly about termites. Good news. They live in the ground underneath the wood and the queen is there. Simply moving the wood to your house will kill the ones left in it. Without the queen to run things they die off.
    Now if you find them living in an older stack of wood on your property,,,,that’s a different story.
