Getting warmer and I don't like it. Roger took a day off and we went skidding. Went pretty well early at least. Then it got slimy. Had to winch the load up the hill. Only got one load, about 1 1/2 cord of good Ash. As an aside, Canadian border VT put some real effort into getting me the log grapple seen in the pic of the winch from the side. What an absolute pleasure to work with! It will grab a log from any position and does not let go. Many thanks kind sir!
Nice work amateur cutter. Looks like it got a little intetesting. Im off tomorrow but will most likely be a half day because I'll have to go in for a little to do someone elses job. Planning on hauling the 4' splits of oak/cherry/ hickory I secured late fall.
Nice works guys! I hate "slimy" ! Got stuck briefly in it at storage last Thursday. Even with a full load of splits in back. Like driving on banana peels.
I could be ok with this weather amateur cutter if it would dry up! Since that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen, I’m with you. Another month or so of frozen ground please!
amateur cutter so glad that antique is working and not just shelf art.. I am really interested in your winch on box blade more pics of attachments please
That's quite a load! The mud is looking slick. Looks like you get as close as you can and then winch from there? How long a cable you running? That's a nice setup! Brad
Winches Plus in Las Vegas builds those, I bought it a few years back and mounted it to that blade. Totally self contained gas powered unit. Mile Marker hydraulic winch run off a Saginaw power stg pump. That's a decent load for sure, but on a job like that we try for 4-5 loads in a day. Top inch of the ground thawed and things went south lol. I'll usually back in as tight as possible with the tractor and then winch up to the back blade, skid to deck rinse & repeat. Winch cable is 100' synthetic rope. 12K dead pull.
