blacksmith and I hopped all through a couple hard maples the last two Saturday's, it was a fun job with the house, porch, dormer, service drops and the hot lines all joining in for the party.... I'm going to mill this log on the spot, possibly this weekend or some evening this week. Hoping for some curl in the grain..... Enjoy the pics!
Outstanding work, as always. That log definitely looks like there could be some beautiful grain hiding inside. Decent pile of farwood too
We have a lot of sugar maples around here, but they're all wild, and none that big. I bet that tree was beautiful in the fall. The way you're hanging from the ropes, and on those branches, would be like watching a movie that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Thanks for posting.
Always enjoy your threads Scotty. Looks like fun. I think i missed my calling in life. Outstanding job guys...literally. Someone was out standing on that limb!
If you can strip bark, you can see if it's going to be curly. I have pics of the wavy pattern somewhere.
People have come from Nebraska and Jersey to the spring GTG in Michigan. Then there's leoht that came up for the GTG from Australia a couple years ago.
Definitely looked like they both needed to come down! Did you guys play Rock Paper Scissors to decide who did which tree? Love to see some pics of the log you plan to mill once it’s opened up. Nice job Scotty Overkill & blacksmith
