Good guess, but it’s not Hawthorn.

If not Midland or Cockspur Hawthorn, I'm gonna guess Crab apple

It does look similar to Crabapple and Hawthorn, but it’s not. I know some tree ID, but I don’t think I could come up with those guesses.

That's an apple of some sort IMO....at least the bark and twigs look like it.

I see a little look of honey locust in that bark.

Ok, looking at it on a larger screen, something even more says dogwood to me more than honey locust. And I can't say why, it just looks dogwoody!

Some kind of maple?? The limb on lower right has "twigs" that are opposite, so that narrows the choices down.....

Opposite branching says maple, and according to a quick Google search maples are in the soapberry family. So I’m guessing some kind of exotic ornamental maple.

Sycamore maple? Bark kind of reminded me of sycamore a little bit. Never saw a sycamore maple in person though. Thought London Planetree too but branches looked off.

It’s an ornamental, but I forget what the appeal is. Probably tolerant of harsh parking lot island conditions and has the interesting bark. The Maple answers are correct. This is a Trident Maple. The leaves are obviously maple looking.
