The wife told me that she just made it around a blowdown this morning as she left the house. I checked it out and found it to be a pair of Beech. The larger had Beech bark disease and when it went down, it took the smaller with it. It was on the neighbors property but since he was out of town, I cleaned it up for him. Good excuse to pull the cord on the 261 and 540. If he doesn't want the wood, I'll go back and bring it home. The smaller one was laying on the broadband and phone lines but was below the power so no worries there. All came down nicely and the road got cleared. I feel empty not bringing it home though...

Looks like you have it all under control. Good job getting that all cleaned up.

Yep, good dude. He only has a fireplace so doesn't burn much. I'll chip up the brush pile for him as well to clean the mess.

Nice beech  My wife texted me about some limbs that fell in our yard this morning. It’s from our next door neighbor’s dead Ash that unfortunately has been dead too long, so not really worth getting excited about for firewood. At least it missed my chicken coop. It’s only a matter of time before the entire trunk comes crashing down then it’ll become my problem. :picard:

Yeah, would be a shame to see all that nice Beech wasted heating the fireplace flue!

The winds howled for hours last night. I wasn't sure what I'd wake to but luckily I didn't have any downers. Looks like you got some nice goldilocks wood out of it.

Still blowing hard here! I'm waiting for more to come down... You're right about the size of those trees. Just right for the 261. She hasn't been used much yet so I'm looking forward to going back and bucking up what's there. I am still in break in mode and she bogs pretty heavy but from what I read, a couple tanks through her should cure that.
