I've had a HarborFreight ball end hex set for a long, long time. And I should have done this a long, long time ago. But now that I'm fixing other people's equipment, I feel like I need to respect the work, respect their property, and get some proper tools. Definitely not the ultimate top of the line, but light years ahead of what I had. I stripped 2 hex bolts already and that's enough of that nonsense. I got the straight hex sets in imperial and metric (metric being way more important given I have all metric cars) and also have the torx set arriving tomorrow. I was considering the ball ends just to have a set just in case....but those can wait for now I think. The three sets cost $145 all in from mscdirect.com.
I saw Adam Savage talk about it on YT. The guy is a nut - has one set by the lathe, one set by the milling machine, and another set by something else.....and by set I mean imperial and metric! He also talked about how he's never had a stripped fastener head from using these and that's exactly why I got them. I see the ball end metric set for $34.11 on Amazon. I might have to indulge.
